We set out on an unforgettable road journey from Delhi to Jalandhar due to the allure of the open road, the wind in our hair, and the excitement of exploring new areas. The journey promised to be the ideal fusion of exhilarating culture, beautiful scenery, and the warmth of Punjab. We embarked on this grand expedition full of enthusiasm and anticipation, eager to make memories that would last a lifetime.
Early in the morning, as the sun's first rays filled the sky with a variety of vivid hues, we set out on our journey. A preview of the journey ahead was provided by the comfortable ride on the Delhi-Ludhiana route. We enjoyed the gorgeous villages and verdant fields that dot the scenery as we travelled into the open countryside.
When we arrived in Ludhiana, the city's busy streets and the scent of freshly brewed chai wafting from every nook welcomed us. We made a diversion to visit the old Ludhiana Fort, which is a reminder of the city's illustrious past. The massive building was standing tall, telling tales of ancient battles and regal splendour.
We left Ludhiana behind and continued on our way to Amritsar, a holy city and the location of the famous Golden Temple. The vivid yellow mustard fields that lined the highways leading to Amritsar captured our hearts with their beauty forever.
We were in awe of the Golden Temple's spectacular magnificence when we arrived. The gleaming building seemed to hover on the calm Amrit Sarovar, infusing everyone who saw it with peace. The Guru Granth Sahib was transported to its final resting place while passionate songs were being sung, and we spent the evening seeing this mesmerising event known as Palki Sahib.
We travelled through charming small villages and busy markets on the route from Amritsar to Jalandhar, which highlighted the vibrant culture and way of life of Punjab. When we arrived in Jalandhar, the locals greeted us with warmth and hospitality.
Jalandhar provided a beautiful blend of historic and modern attractions. We investigated the magnificent Rangla Punjab Haveli, a cultural village that immersed us in the history, traditions, and handicrafts of Punjab. We were unable to stop eating the wonderful Punjabi food served here.
We began our journey to discover Jalandhar's hidden gems with the entire day at our disposal. The calm Nehru Park provided a tranquil hideaway ideal for some unhurried hours. With its planetarium and interactive exhibits, the Pushpa Gujral Science City brought a bit of science and wonder to our journey.
We went to the magnificent Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum to learn more about the history of the area. We were in awe of the brave Maharaja's daring and vision after viewing the exhibitions that featured artefacts and mementos from his time.
We said Jalandhar farewell as the road pulled us back to Delhi with aching hearts. We would always remember the gracious welcome, soul-stirring encounters, and delightful discoveries.
We had time on the ride back to reflect on the best parts of our road trip. The journey was made especially memorable by the large, open fields, vibrant markets, and the consistently happy smiles of the people of Punjab.
