The monument is open from sunrise to sunset other than Friday. The best time of the day to visit the Taj Mahal is during sunrise. The ticket counter in the monument opens by 6 in the morning but there will be a queue.

Best time of the night to visit Taj Mahal

 Viewing the Taj Mahal glitter in the cool lights of the moon is perfect. Taj Mahal is open for only 5 nights such as on the full moon night, 2 nights before the full moon, and 2 nights after the full moon. During the Ramadan month which lasts for 30 days, this access is not applicable. Per person is allowed only 30 minutes inside the monument for a night visit and only 400 tickets are sold per night.

Taj Mahal Timings and Entry fee

Taj Mahal, Agra timing is not set. The Taj Mahal opens 30-45 minutes before sunrise and closes its gates about 30 minutes before sunset each day. The Taj Mahal remains closed on Fridays for public viewing. The normal fee structure with timings is stated as below:

Open timings:

  • 30 minutes before sunrise
  • 30 minutes before sunset.
  • It is closed on Fridays and during the month of Ramzan

Night entry timings:

  • 8:30 pm to 12:30 am.
  • Night viewing is allowed on five days every month - on the full moon night and two nights before and two after the full moon.

Ticket Price:

  • Rs 50 for Indians
  • Rs 1100 for foreigners
  • Rs 540 for citizens of SAARC and BIMSTEC countries
  • Free for children below 15 years of age

Note: Photography and videography are allowed inside the place but not inside the mausoleum. Tripods are strictly forbidden. Ensure you remove or cover your shoes before entering.
